A cooler state of mind

I live in the central valley of California, and if you’ve never experienced a summer here, I can tell you that it’s hot.  Very hot.  I’m talking about scorching, dry heat that can and often reach temperatures over 100 degrees.  So as soon as summer welcomes itself here, I’m already yearning for cool autumn temperatures and daydreaming about all the cute jackets, scarves and boots I can get my hands on.

With that said, here are some images of one of my favorite Fall 2012 collections, Dsquared.  These two brothers know how to get it right.  It’s very Audrey Hepburn; but a very rebellious and bad-ass Audrey Hepburn.  I love it!

It's Complicated

Actually, it’s not really that complicated.  It’s simple.  I am in love with the home in the film “It’s Complicated.”  From the first time I saw the film I’ve been enamored with the home.  And since I moved into my apartment, I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture and interiors 🙂

Even if you’re not a fan of romantic comedies, you should still see the movie because Meryl Streep’s character, Jane, lives in my dream home.  It’s a 1920’s Spanish-style ranch in Santa Barbara, California and the perfect combination of rustic and modern.  I just love the exposed wooden beams, the gorgeous courtyard and garden.  The kitchen is probably my favorite room in the entire home and the bathroom isn’t too shabby either. Although I really enjoy the movie, all I could think about afterwards was this amazing house.

Jane’s bakery is amazing as well, but that’s a whole other post 🙂

What’s your favorite movie home?

Africa – Nick Brandt

My boss introduced me to these beautiful photos of Africa, taken by photographer Nick Brandt.  They are absolutely breath-taking.  I love how the photos are black and white; it sort of forces you to really see the ethereal beauty in these animals and Africa itself.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Lake Tahoe and my coveted Parka

Remember this bad boy Parka Please?  Well, I caved and invested in it for future chilly days 🙂

I broke it out on my family trip to Lake Tahoe back in April where the water was crystal clear, the air fresh and the view immaculate.  I had an amazing time with my family and sipped on the best hot chocolate from a Seattle’s Best cafe.  If you’ve never had one, you should know that they top it off with whipped cream, shaved white chocolate, chocolate syrup, and finally finish it with a mini chocolate bar.  It is my absolute favorite!

I'm back!

I apologize for the long hiatus.  May has been such a tumultuous month for me.  I was in the process of finding an apartment, packing, moving and all that unnecessary stress that comes with relocating!  It’s a week into June now, I’m bit more settled and am feeling my creative juices flow again.

With that in mind, here are some items that I’ve been coveting this summer (in no particular order or theme)!
